Love these ideas! especially the coloring book. I just published one and am having a virtual party for national coloring book day on my website…lisaevola.com…stop by and have a virtual cupcake!!
Awesome, Lisa! Congrats!
Terrific practical, fun and whimsical ideas! I’m intrigued by the literal “writer’s block” and may have to gift myself with one soon! Also, I find a Bluetooth keyboard and tablet combination among my favorite writing tools; such keyboards tend to have a light touch and improve comfort during long writing sessions.
So glad you liked these ideas, Patricia! The writer’s block looks pretty cool, right?!
From hilarious to practical, all FANTASTIC suggestions for the writer you love!
May I humbly suggest another: a sample-size writer’s resource, such as a coaching session, a critique of a short passage, or a month’s worth of writing prompts. These come in packages that can fit almost any gift-giver’s budget, from a few dollars on up.
Okay, I do sell such things myself, but so do a lot of editors. If there’s an editor the writer in your life has been thinking about but hasn’t quite been at the right point to approach, a small service or product could be a great way to break the ice.
Hey, if nobody seems to be getting around to buying YOU the perfect writer’s gift, there’s nothing wrong with getting a little “present” for yourself. This article’s list may have something you didn’t even realize how much you need.

Love this idea, Trish! Thanks for sharing and adding to the list!
How about a T-shirt stating that you’re a writer or a bumper sticker. Then there’s always the T-shirt with a drawing of your favorite author. These other ideas are terrific.
Good addition, Elizabeth!
A nice bourbon or whiskey! Write drunk, edit sober, right? At least, that would work for me.
Ha! Love it.
Haha, I know I’m a writer because I own 3/4 of the things on this list.
Friends and family often get me gift cards for my birthday, and I’ve been asking for Etsy cards instead of Amazon. On Etsy there are TONS of cute notebooks, mugs, planners, and literary jewelry. And bonus, you get choose your own gift. 🙂
Etsy gift cards? That’s a great idea!
Isn’t it though?
Of course, I may be a little prejudiced because I happen to own an Etsy shop, where I happen to sell resources for writers. (Just sayin’.)
